Community

Located in Reading PA, we provided full services for the construction of an approximate 17,300 SF new community library building. The design concept was inspired by traditional Berks County barn architecture, which can be seen in the stone gable wall and exposed timber trusses at the front entrance. The building is divided into four major wings: the main library, the children’s library, program / community rooms, and the administrative area. Each of these wings revolves around a large central lobby, which also doubles as a community display area. Another design highlight is the wonderful natural light that filters throughout the space provided by the large gable windows in the children’s and main library wings.

Located in Orwigsburg PA, Watkins Architect provided full services in a design/build format for the construction of an approximate 10,468 SF, two-story Research Center, incorporating renewable resource technology. The design concept was to capture the vernacular of the Pennsylvania stone farmhouse with the prominent stone gable-end walls punctured with vertical slot openings for windows and with the natural siting of the structure embedded within the hillside.

Located in Fleetwood PA, we provided a design of a master plan for the existing park facility to include a 10-station fitness trail, playground replacement, expanded parking, adult fitness center, lighting, signage and various other site upgrades.

Located in Alburtis PA, we provided architectural services for a Christian camp and retreat center for the PA Southeast Conference of the United Church of Christ. Various projects included a new Adult Center Lodge and Dining Hall, Day Use Pavilion, and renovations to existing facilities.

Watkins Architect has provided design services for concession stand facilities and for new accessible facilities for both men and women. Many of the concession stands we designed include stainless steel fixtures with masonry walls and counters and include plenty of storage space for park maintenance equipment. We also design dugouts for community park baseball fields.
